Dry Transfers

Dry transfer is a term used to describe decals which can be applied without the use of water or other solvent. Sometimes they are called rub-ons or rubdowns due to the method of application. The decal itself is on a backing material such as paper or plastic sheeting. The backing is placed, decal side down, on the surface to transfer to, and then it is applied by rubbing with a stylus, ballpoint pen, pencil, etc.

The major benefits for dry transfers:

1.       They can be made using White.

2.       They are completely opaque, no "blending" with surface colors.

3.       They are easy to apply; you just position the graphic and rub it on.

4.       We can make complex artwork using dry transfers.

5.       We can make very small items (less than 1/8”)

The downside is they do cost a bit more. This is largely due to the fact that each color separation requires a negative to be made plus it is a time consuming, manual process. I do think that the results are outstanding, and I think you will as well.

Prices for the 1/5 and 1/6 prop decals  $10.00 and a generic 1/5 or 1/6 nomenclature sheet is $16.

Many thanks to Dave G. in Colorado, for he has helped us create what we think maybe one of the most complete nomenclature sets available for the Yellow Aircraft 1/6 scale 80” span P-47. There are over 200 total transfers on 3 different sheets (it even has the nomenclature that goes inside wing the ammo boxes). Plus the set comes with a 3 view diagram showing placement options. $60.00 for the set or $70.00 and you will also get your choice of either Curtiss Electric or Hamilton Standard prop decals.
