Dry Transfers

Dry transfer is a term used to describe decals which can be applied without the use of water or other solvent. Sometimes they are called rub-ons or rubdowns due to the method of application. The decal itself is on a backing material such as paper or plastic sheeting. The backing is placed, decal side down, on the surface to transfer to, and then it is applied by rubbing with a stylus, ballpoint pen, pencil, etc.

The major benefits for dry transfers:

They can be made using White.

  1. They are completely opaque, no "blending" with surface colors.
  2. They are easy to apply; you just position the graphic and rub it on.
  3. We can make complex artwork using dry transfers.
  4. We can make very small items (less than 1/8”)

The downside is they do cost a bit more. This is largely due to the fact that each color separation requires a negative to be made plus it is a time consuming, manual process. I do think that the results are outstanding, and I think you will as well.
